One pot chocolate cake (Donal Skehan)
I discovered Donal Skehan quite recently thanks to my sister and when I saw this chocolate cake without chocolate (only chocolate powder) I found this idea fantastic ! And I direclty tried the recipe, a real success !
This is a perfect basis for a chocolate cake, and then you can add any ingredients like chocolate chips, walnuts or candied orange peel. I also like the fact the in 30 minutes, your cake is done, cooking time included so it is perfect for a last minute chocolate cake.
At the end of the post, find the official video of Donal Skehan if you want to see the recipe in video.
- 100g salted butter
- 200g caster sugar
- 2 eggs
- 70g plain flour
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- Option : walnuts, or chocolate chips, or vanilla extract for example.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Melt the butter in a saucepan (or use the microwave). Remove from the heat, add the sugar and the 2 eggs, then mix well. Add the flour, the cocoa powder and mix until combined. To finish, you can add your walnuts or chocolate chips, or the vanilla extract.
My favourite is with walnuts
Pour the mix into a brownie tin (square one) with greaseproof paper in it, and put in the over for 20 minutes.
Then, the hardest part of the recipe: wait until the cake is baked and cold enough to try it
